Gulshan Devaiah Turns 46: Actor's Iconic Performances That Proved His Versatility!
From a sex addict in Hunterrr to a serious cop in Dahaad, Gulshan has always kept the audience entertained and proved his adaptability to different genres.

Happy birthday, Gulshan Devaiah. The actor turns 46 today. Can you believe it? At least, we can’t. Well, it won’t be wrong to say that he is ageing like a fine wine. Agree? Gulshan, before entering into the world of acting, worked in the fashion industry for 10 years. He holds a graduation degree from the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT).

Gulshan’s passion for acting started with minor roles at Bengaluru’s English theatre, where he honed his skills by performing in various dramas before deciding to take the plunge into the vast world of Bollywood.

With dreams in his eyes, Gulshan arrived in Mumbai in 2008. He made his acting debut with Anurag Kashyap’s neo-noir thriller That Girl in Yellow Boots in 2010. Since then, Gulshan has carved a niche for himself by continuously pushing the bar with his film choices. From a sex addict in Hunterrr to a serious cop in Dahaad, Gulshan has always kept the audience entertained and proved his adaptability to different genres.

On his birthday, let’s take a look at some of his most memorable performances that prove he is the king of experimental cinema:

  1. Shaitan (2011)Starring Kalki Koechlin, Shiv Panditt, and Gulshan Devaiah, Shaitan was the polar opposite of Bollywood’s idea of crimes. Gulshan’s power-packed performance earned him nominations for Best Actor in a Supporting Role at the Screen Awards, and Best Male Debut at Filmfare.
  2. Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela (2012)Gulshan played the role of Bhavani, a member of the Jadeja clan. Even though he had a comparatively smaller role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film, Gulshan still managed to rightfully steal the thunder. His natural performance and impeccable grasp of the accent earned him the tag of one of the most-loved grey characters. Movie buffs loved to hate him for being one of the biggest hurdles in the love story of the lead characters.
  3. Hunterrr (2015)Harshavardhan Kulkarni’s directorial Hunterrr showed Gulshan as a sex addict whose life changes after meeting Radhika Apte. This film made it clear that Gulshan is the true definition of a versatile actor who lives on the phrase ‘ate and left absolutely no crumbs.’
  4. Mard Ko Dard Nahin Hota (2018)The action-comedy was a turning point in Gulshan’s journey. It was a visual treat to watch him portray two completely diverse characters, Karate Mani and Jimmy, in a double role. Directed by Vasan Bala, the film has garnered critical acclaim.
  5. Dahaad (2023)Gulshan Devaiah was the uncrowned king in this gritty web series, Dahaad. From getting the accent right to maintaining a certain stoicism expected from his role, Gulshan nailed his role as Devilal Singh, a cop who is chasing a serial killer.
