Composer Ilaiyaraaja has mesmerised not just Tamil cinema fans, but the entire Indian film fraternity, with his music. Even today, his songs remain a source of comfort for many. Ilaiyaraaja created numerous timeless tracks that continue to resonate. Despite facing criticism for his recent copyright actions, many fans still stand by him. He recently composed the soundtrack for the film Jama, which has been well-received. Ilaiyaraaja is also scoring music for the film Viduthalai 2, directed by Vetrimaaran, and for a biopic about himself, directed by Arun Matheswaran and starring Dhanush. A celebrated maestro, Ilaiyaraaja has been conducting music concerts internationally. Recently, his daughter Bhavatharini passed away due to cancer and the bereaved musician avoided attending concerts. Now, he has gradually started participating in concerts again. Recently, a grand music event of his, titled Truly Live In Concert took place in Chennai, attracting a large crowd of fans who were captivated by the music. Similar concerts were also held in London and Paris. To attend the Paris concert, Ilaiyaraaja traveled by train from London to Paris. He shared a video of this journey on his X, where he was seen sporting a stylish and unique look, wearing a coat suit.

As the train moves and Ilaiyaraaja is seen seated by the window, we get a beautiful glimpse of the European countryside. He is also seen enjoying a meal on the train. The musician was recently involved in a series of controversies regarding copyright issues as he voiced his displeasure over the use of his songs in other projects, without royalty or credits. Ilaiyaraaja issued a copyright notice to Sun Pictures for using his song in Rajinikanth’s Coolie promo. Similarly, he had also sent a notice to the makers of the Malayalam film Manjummel Boys for the use of his song from his film Gunaa.
Ilayaraaja’s Truly Live In Concert will be held in Zurich, Switzerland on September 8.
