Gautham Vasudev Menon, known for his diverse range of films, is set to captivate audiences with his upcoming project Joshua Imai Pol Kaakha. Scheduled for release on March 1 after a four-year delay, the action-packed entertainer stars Bigg Boss alum Varun in the lead role. In a recent interview with Times Of India, the director delved into the intriguing details of the film.
Describing Joshua Imai Pol Kaakha as a departure from his previous works, Gautham highlighted its experimental nature, particularly its focus on adrenaline-pumping action sequences. He explained, “JIPK is an experimental action film with pulsating action sequences. There are 10–12 action sequences in the film that take the story forward. I haven’t ever done something in this space yet.”
Reflecting on his experience with the film, Gautham expressed a sense of rediscovery as a director. He remarked, “With JIPK, I would probably say that I rediscovered myself because I designed the action sequences and the whole script was designed around the action sequences.” He emphasised the film’s significance in his career, noting its unique approach to storytelling.
Apart from Varun, Joshua Imai Pol Kaakha features an ensemble cast including Karthik, Raahei, Yogi Babu and Mansoor Ali Khan. The film’s journey began in 2019 but was delayed due to the pandemic and other factors, finally reaching completion in 2022.
In his recent acting endeavours, Gautham was last seen in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Leo, alongside Thalapathy Vijay. Looking ahead, he is set to essay a pivotal role in Vetrimaaran’s highly anticipated Viduthalai: Part 2, starring Soori and Vijay Sethupathi. The film is slated for release later this year.
