Netflix has recently dropped the trailer for Irish Wish, a romantic comedy with a blend of romance, humour and a touch of magic. Starring Lindsay Lohan in the lead role, the film is set to stream on March 15 and is directed by Janeen Damian, with a screenplay by Kirsten Hansen.
Irish Wish follows the story of Maddie, played by Lohan, a woman who finds herself at a crossroads when the love of her life gets engaged to her best friend. As Maddie travels to Ireland for the destination wedding, she wishes she could be the one marrying him. However, her wish takes a surprising turn when she wakes up as the bride-to-be.
The trailer introduces viewers to Maddie’s world, where she is shown to be a book editor working with Paul (Alexander Vlahos), a writer she has feelings for. On her journey to the wedding venue, Maddie meets a charming Irish stranger, played by Ed Speleers, but realizes that her heart still belongs to Paul. Despite her regrets about not expressing her feelings to Paul, Maddie decides not to ruin his wedding, as he is engaged to her best friend, Emma (Elizabeth Tan).
As Maddie grapples with her conflicting emotions, her mother (Jane Seymour) encourages her to speak up for herself. Feeling that it is too late to confess her feelings to Paul, Maddie makes a wish to swap lives with Emma and wakes up in Emma’s place, with Paul by her side.
The trailer teases a complex love triangle as Maddie navigates her new reality. She continues to cross paths with the Irish stranger, leading her to question her true feelings. “I know this sounds strange, but I’m not sure this is supposed to be my life," Maddie says, hinting at the internal struggle she faces.
Supported by her friend Heather (Ayesha Curry), Maddie embarks on a journey of self-discovery, trying to find true love and happiness. As she navigates the challenges of her new life, Maddie learns valuable lessons about love, friendship and the power of wishes.
Irish Wish marks Lohan’s return to Netflix following her role in Falling for Christmas, where she starred opposite Chord Overstreet. Her next project with Netflix, Our Little Secret, is currently in production and will see her sharing the screen with Kristin Chenoweth and Ian Harding.
