It's a Very Big Moment for Me: Ananya Panday on Being the FDCI X LFW Finale Showstopper
Actress Ananya Panday opened up about being the Grand Finale showstopper for the ongoing FDCI X Lakmé Fashion Week 2021. Ananya walked for Ruchika Sachdeva's label Bodice.

Ananya Panday has a new feather in her cap. On Sunday, the actress made her debut as the Lakmé Absolute Grand Finale showstopper in the very first ‘Phygital’ edition of the FDCI X Lakmé Fashion Week.

Ananya walked for the Lakmé Absolute Grand Finale Designer Ruchika Sachdeva’s label Bodice. She stunned in a matching beige top and skirt from Ruchika’s collection titled Ready Set Play.

In a freewheeling chat with News18, Ananya talked about waiting for this opportunity for a long time. “Since I signed on with Lakmé I have been waiting for this. So now that it is finally here, it’s a very big moment for me. So I just want to have fun and make the most of it,” she gushed.

Ruchika Sachdeva’s Grand Finale collection has been inspired by Lakmé’s beauty theme #MiniPlayMegaSlay. Talking about working with the designer, Ananya said, “It’s been a great experience, I really love her clothes. I feel like she has such a bold design structure. She has the perfect mix of classic, but she also has so much fun with colour. So I really love her designs. The outfit that I’m wearing today for the finale actually stands for all of that because it is a very interesting structure, but there is also a lot of play with colour.”

The FDCI X Lakmé Fashion week was held in a special ‘phygital’ format owing to the Covid-19 pandemic. Talking about her experience, the actress said, “There have obviously been a lot of differences this year. I feel like everything is becoming a little phygital, honestly. I think this year has been a lot about gratitude for me, and a lot patience, spending time with me, learning and slowing down. But I think the biggest thing I have learnt is finding joy in the smaller things.”

The actress who identifies her fashion aesthetic as serial-chiller, further elaborated on the new collection. “The Lakme Absolute Matte Melt Mini collection is super-mini and they have a really cute packaging. They come in five different styles and they have a music festival theme and a rainforest theme. So the packaging is done according to that. Even though it is a Mattle Melt Mini, it has a velvet-y finish, and it is still very hydrating, which is very rare in matte lipsticks. The fact that it is small is really convenient to carry around everywhere,” she said.

Ananya has an interesting roster of projects in 2021. She will be making her South debut opposite Vijay Deverakonda in Liger. “It is actually a pan-India film and it is going to be released in five languages, so it is technically my debut in four languages altogether, which kind of makes me a little nervous but is really exciting also. I’m very blessed to be in that film and to be working with Puri Jagannadh sir. He is amazing and I think his cinema is the kind of cinema I love watching. It is super entertaining, it has a little bit of everything. It has drama, action, romance, and comedy. I’m very excited to be a part of it. I’ve been wanting to work with Vijay for such a long time, because he is an amazing actor. He is a really nice person as well, so it has been an amazing experience,” she said.

The actress also recently shot for Shakun Batra’s untitled film with Deepika Padukone and Siddhanth Chaturvedi. When asked if like Batra’s previous work, the new movie could potentially break hearts, she said “They could (break), but they could also join back together.”

“You will have to watch it to find out,” she signed off.
