Justin Timberlake will reportedly plead guilty in his ongoing DWI case and accept a lesser penalty.

In the latest update to his longstanding drunk driving case, Justin Timberlake has reportedly accepted a plea deal to admit his mistake for a less serious charge. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the singer, who is due to appear for his next hearing on September 13, has agreed to plead guilty in court. This comes nearly three months after he was arrested in the DWI case in Sag Harbor, New York on June 18.

As per a report by TMZ, while the original Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) case carries a jail tenure of one year with a $2,500 fine, Timberlake, with a plea for a lesser charge, might have to pay between $300 and $500, based on Friday’s judgment. However, as per September 11’s ruling, he is still barred from driving in New York for another year. The actor or his representatives are yet to comment on the development.

While he initially maintained his stance over “not guilty,” his lawyer, Edward Burke Jr, also argued that he was not intoxicated at the said time, further adding that “we are confident that charge, that criminal charge, will be dismissed.” In July, Burke also filed a motion to dismiss the charge, which was later withdrawn in August.

What Happened In Justin Timberlake’s DWI Case?

In June this year, the 43-year-old singer was arrested shortly after midnight in New York after he was spotted driving out of his lane and even violating a stop sign on the road. The arresting officer observed Timberlake’s 2025 BMW southbound on Madison Street, where it failed to stop at a duly posted stop sign and maintain a lane of travel. He was “determined” that the singer was driving the car under the influence of alcohol. “His eyes were bloodshot and glassy, he had a strong smell of alcohol, he was distracted, had slowed speech, was standing unsteadily, and even performed poorly on all standardised field sobriety tests,” the officer noted, as quoted by People.

At the time, Timberlake even refused to take a breathalyser after his arrest, following which he was taken into custody, and his license was also suspended for a year in the state. While he was released without bail, the case continued to transcend over the months.
