Kamal Haasan's Indian, Re-released After 28 Years, Packs A Punch At Box Office

South superstar Kamal Haasan’s 1996 blockbuster, Indian, co-starring Manisha Koirala and Urmila Matondkar, was re-released in the theatres on May 30 and received a good response from the audiences. As per reports, the film got a solid start and minted Rs 1 crore on the first day of its re-release.

Helmed by Shankar, Indian featured Kamal Haasan in a double role and it also starred Sukanya, Manorama, Goundamani, and Senthil, among others in pivotal roles.

The re-release of Indian has allowed fans to revisit the 1996 blockbuster ahead of its sequel, which is slated for a Pan-Indian release on July 12.

Indian 2 has been creating a buzz on social media ever since its official announcement in 2018. The filming of the project began in 2019 and was put on hold for various reasons like an on-set accident that resulted in the death of a crew member, budget overruns and the COVID-19 pandemic.

But, as they say, all’s well that ends, fans will now see Kamal Haasan returning as the freedom fighter Senapathy who fights against corruption, soon on the big screens.

Apart from the Chachi 420 actor, the film also stars Siddharth, S. J. Suryah, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Bobby Simha, Vivek, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Gulshan Grover, Samuthirakani, and Nedumudi Venu.

The film’s music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, the cinematography is by Ravi Varman and R. Rathnavelu and the editing is by A. Sreekar Prasad.

Recently, the makers of Indian 2 surprised the viewers and dropped a lyrical video of the song titled Kadharalz.

Last month, the makers of Indian 2 unveiled the first single of the film titled Paaraa which received good responses from the audiences. The video of the song featured a silhouette of Kamal Haasan’s character Senapathy riding a horse and single-handedly fighting an army.

Sung by Anirudh Ravichander and Shruthika Samudhrala, the song is composed by Anirudh himself and penned by Pa Vijay.

Meanwhile, Kamal Haasan was last seen in the Pan-India action thriller film Vikram. Helmed by Lokesh Kanagraj, the film also featured actors Vijay Sethupathi, Fahadh Faasil, Narain, Kalidas Jayaram and Gayathrie in pivotal roles.
