Kannada actor Rachita Ram has come out in support of Darshan amid the ongoing Renuka Swamy murder probe. On Tuesday, Rachita took to her Instagram handle and issued a statement in Kannada in which she talked about the case and hoped for justice. She called Darshan her “mentor” and stated that it looked unbelievable that he would be connected to a murder case.
“I pray for the departed soul, Renukaswamy. I hope his family gains the strength to bear the loss. I hope justice will be delivered in this murder case. Darshan introduced me to the cinema industry. He is like my mentor. I cannot believe that the person who used to correct my mistakes and guide me was involved in the case. I believe that the police will bring out the truth. Hope the media will remain unbiased and transparent in their reports,” her statement, as translated by India Today, reads.

Darshan and Rachita worked together in her debut film Bulbul. The two later starred together in films like Ambareesha, Jaggu Dada, Amar and Kranti.
Rachita Ram is not the first actress who has reacted to Darshan’s arrest. Previously, popular Kannada star Kiccha Sudeep also said, “The family deserves justice and the girl (Renukaswamy’s wife) and the unborn child deserve justice. Above all, everyone should have faith in justice and I believe the police, and it looks like the media, is also working hard to uncover the truth.”
“I will not speak on behalf or against them (the accused including Darshan). The court will decide who the culprit is and we should accept them and we cannot be judges,” he added.
Darshan is being probed for his alleged connection to the Renuka Swamy murder case. Swamy was found dead at Sumanahalli Bridge in Bengaluru on June 8, 2024. He used to reportedly work at an Apollo Pharmacy branch in Chitradurga. Reportedly, Renuka used to send vulgar messages to Kannada actress Pavithra Gowad, a friend of Darshan. Angry about this, Renuka Swamy was murdered and his dead body was allegedly thrown in a canal at Kamaksshipalya, Bengaluru in front of Darshan.
Reportedly, eight of the accused have implicated Darshan, claiming his presence during Renuka Swamy’s assault. The Kannada star was arrested by the Bengaluru police from Mysuru on June 11 following which he was sent to 6-day police custody.
