Karan Johar Became BFFs With Farah Khan During THIS Shah Rukh Khan Film: 'SRK Put His Jigra Into The Part'
Karan Johar and Farah Khan shared on social media how they became best friends while working on a Shah Rukh Khan-starrer.

Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla’s film Duplicate is marking its 26th anniversary. It remains a favourite among fans and cinema lovers. Interestingly, the movie also played a role in forming lasting bonds within the industry, celebrated even now. To honour the special day, Karan Johar and Farah Khan shared how they became best friends while working on this very film.

Both Karan Johar and Farah Khan were part of Shah Rukh Khan’s Duplicate – Karan as assistant director and Farah as the choreographer. Karan shared the movie’s poster on his Instagram stories and tagged Farah. He wrote, “SRK put all his jigra into the part! Have so many memories of the shoot of this film! Farah Khan do you remember the 20 lens.”

Farah took next to no time to re-share it on her Instagram Stories. She wrote, “Oh my godd!! best songs best times, @karanjohar, we actually became best friends here… n it was the 20 mm lens that never came.”

Shah Rukh Khan’s Duplicate is a beloved comedy from the 1990s. It featured Shah Rukh Khan in a dual role and is known for marking the partnership between Farah Khan and Karan Johar. Karan, along with his father Yash Johar, co-produced and assisted in making the film. Karan was also credited as a costume designer. That apart, Farah, known for her choreography, had a role in the film. The film revolves around a ruthless don who, in order to evade the law, tries to kill his lookalike; a chef and tries to take his place.

In Bollywood, there are some strong friendships forged through years of collaboration and shared experiences. Karan Johar and Farah Khan’s bond is a prime example. They often talk fondly about their friendship and act out exaggerated versions of their own selves in fun videos.

Once, on Maniesh Paul’s podcast, Farah had praised her dear director friend for his resilience and ability to deal with trolls. She had said, “Karan is too funny. His sense of humour is outstanding. He cracks jokes on himself too and that is the best part. I have learnt from him. Uski jitni trolling hoti hai and the way he handles it is just amazing. It’s very difficult. He is a very successful person in our industry and to take that kind of trolling every day and just ignore it… Now I feel he has started enjoying it.”

Karan was recently in the news when he called out a comedian for mimicking him in a way he found was of poor taste.
