Filmmaker Kiran Rao has lodged a complaint with Cyber Crime Cell against an impostor who has created her fake facebook account.
According to media reports Rao has stated that someone has opened a fictitious Facebook account in her name and has been chatting with her friends and family members.
The cyber crime police station registered a FIR against an unknown person for cheating by impersonation and identity theft.
K M M Prasanna, Additional commissioner of police (crime) confirmed that such a complaint had been lodged but declined to give out any further details quoting it as a "sensitive matter".
According to media sources, Rao submitted a written application to the cyber police, complaining that recently her friends told her about a series of chats on Facebook, which she was clueless about.
"After going through her application, we have registered an offence and have started investigation," said a police officer.
Well, looks like impersonation and identity theft of celebrities has become common and cyber security has become a grave concern for all the known people of the industry.
