Last year, debutante director Murphy Devasy made a Malayalam slasher film titled Nalla Nilavulla Rathri. The film was made on a low budget and did not star any A-listers. Starring roles included Chemban Vinod Jose, Baburaj, Sai Kumar, Binu Pappu, Jinu Joseph, Ganapathi S. Poduval, Rony David Raj, Sajin Cherukayil and Nithin George. Nalla Nilavulla Rathri. was an average grosser at the box office and the reviews were mixed. While the original version is already streaming on Amazon Prime Video, the Telugu dubbed version will also be available for streaming.
The Telugu dub, retitled as Kalaratri, will stream on Aha OTT from August 17. Coming to the premise of the film, a group of friends go to buy a 266-acre garden at the lowest price. When they arrive at the spot, they find an abandoned guest house by the beach. They think it will be a fun-filled stay at the guest house until they start dying horrific deaths one by one. A killer is lurking among them and stalking them from the shadows. Who is the killer and how they escape forms the crux of the story. Kalaratri will be a treat to watch for people who love slasher flicks and are in the mood for some mystery this weekend. Catch the film on Aha OTT this weekend.
Sandra Thomas, formerly a partner at Friday Film House, launched her own production company, Sandra Thomas Productions, in 2020. The first film to be produced under this new banner is Nalla Nilavulla Rathri. The official announcement for the film was made in September 2022. The script for the film is penned by Murphy Devasy, with the screenplay and dialogue being co-written by Murphy Devasy and Praful Suresh. The film is a joint production by Sandra Thomas and her husband, Wilson Thomas, under the banner of Sandra Thomas Productions.
