Sangamithra SA has now turned producer with the film Alangu. She is the daughter of Anbumani Ramadoss, Member of Rajya Sabha. SP Shakthivel has written and directed this film. He has earlier received accolades for directing the films Payanigal Gavanikkavum and Urumeen. His upcoming film Alangu is based on the true account of politicians from Kerala and the tribal migrant workers from Tamil Nadu. This true incident occurred at the Tamil Nadu and Kerala border. Chemban Vinod, Gunanidhi, Appani Sarath, Srirekha and Kali Venkat have played important roles in this film. In an interesting inclusion, a dog also has a crucial presence in Alangu.

The film’s title Alangu is the first native dog breed of the Tamil natives. Historical evidence and researchers say that this dog was associated with the forces of King Rajaraja I, an emperor of the Chola empire. With time, as per reports, the Alangu dog race became extinct. The dog’s name became an inspiration for the film’s title as this name is appropriate as per the plot of the story. According to reports, the post-production work of the film was completed in 2023. The film was shot for 52 days in the dense forest areas of Idukki, Attappadi (Kerala), Theni, Kambam and Anakatti (Tamil Nadu).

S Pandikumar has handled the film’s cinematography. San Lokesh has handled the editing. Dinesh Kashi directed the film’s action sequences, which are an integral part of the project. Ajesh scored the Alangu’s music.

Alangu is now all set to be released on the big screens. The film’s director SP Shakthivel has tweeted the press and the social media coverage of the film. He also tweeted the dog’s photo which is a significant part of Alangu.

Apart from being Alangu’s producer, Sangamithra SA also tried her hands at filmmaking. The Alangu producer had updated about a short film she was working on. She also started a kickstarter campaign for this film for the funding. The current status of the film remains unknown.

This film revolves around a 16-year-old Muslim girl who wears a hijab and struggles to find a hijab-friendly hair salon in the multicultural streets of Peckham.
