Actor Prithviraj Sukumaran recently won the award for best actor (male) at the Kerala State Film Awards 2024. His mother, Mallika Sukumaran, shared her happiness after her son won the award. Saying that Prithviraj had suffered so much, Mallika said that she is thankful to the jury, audience, director Blessy, and God who decided to give him the award. She also said that KR Gokul, who acted with Prithviraj in Adujiveet, received the award, and it is a very happy thing. At the same time, Aadujeevitham was the big winner at the Kerala State Film Awards and took home nine prizes. Prithviraj won the best actor award for the film, while Blessy also won the Best Director award for Aadujeevitham. It also won other awards, including Best Adapted Screenplay by Blessy, Best Makeup Artist by Ranjith Ambady, Best Sound Mixing by Resool Pookkutty and Sharath Mohan, Best Processing lab/colorist by Vaishal and Shiva Ganesh and Special Mention by KR Gokul.
Prithviraj Sukumaran earlier said that the recognitions received by the film are a result of collective effort. “Each and everyone worked hard to make the project a reality, with a single focus. The first recognition was the warm reception to the movie across the globe. The state film award is another recognition,” he said.
He also won the state film award for best actor earlier for his performances in Vasthavam (2006), Celluloid and Ayalum Njanum Thammil (2012).
Aadujeevitham was released in theatres on March 28, 2024. The film is directed by Blessy and co-produced with Jimmy Jean-Louis and Steven Adams. It stars Jimmy Jean-Louis, Kr Gokul, Talib Al Balushi and Amala Paul among others. The music for the film is composed by AR Rahman.
The film is based on Benyamin’s novel and inspired by true events. It follows the harrowing journey of Najeeb Muhammed, an Indian immigrant in Saudi Arabia. The film sheds light on the plight of migrant workers and the resilience of the human spirit.
