In an interview, Rajkummar Rao talked about his dedication to fasting every Friday, inspired by his mother’s teachings.

Rajkummar Rao is busy promoting his upcoming film, Mr. and Mrs. Mahi, across the country. In one such promotional interview, the actor shared the tradition he inherited from his late mother, Kamalesh Yadav. He talked about his dedication to fasting every Friday, inspired by his mother’s teachings. Rajkummar Rao’s mother died in 2016.

In an interview with Curly Tales, Rajkummar Rao stated, “I keep a fast on Fridays. It is something my mother would do for Santoshi Maa. I started following her ever since I was a kid…since I was 16…and it has been a part of my life.”

The actor acknowledged that his devotion often makes his schedule more difficult, particularly when balancing promotions and maintaining his energy levels on set while shooting. Nonetheless, he finds ways to adapt. He shared, “Sometimes, I do not eat any meals, and sometimes, when I am working and I need to put in a lot of energy that day, I have one meal at night.”

Rajkummar Rao has always expressed his deep love and admiration for his late mother. On the occasion of her death anniversary in March this year, the actor shared a still from his wedding to Patralekhaa in 2021, in which he is seen sitting in front of a photo of his late mother and blowing a kiss to her. In the caption, he wrote, “You will always be the best mother in this world Maa. I know your blessings are always with me. Miss you every day. I love you forever.”

Meanwhile, Rajkummar Rao is all set for the release of Mr and Mrs Mahi on May 31. The film also stars Janhvi Kapoor. Abhishek Banerjee, Rajesh Sharma, Kumud Mishra, Zarina Wahab and Purnendu Bhattacharya in pivotal roles. The trailer for the film, directed by Sharan Sharma, depicts the actors as a married couple who like cricket. Janhvi Kapoor plays a doctor who enjoys watching and playing cricket, while Rajkummar Rao portrays an aspiring cricketer who has yet to make a name for himself in the sport.

This will be Rajkummar Rao’s second release in May 2024, after Srikanth, which has received favourable reviews. The film stars Alaya F, Jyotika and Sharad Kelkar.
