Actress-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut was slapped by a CISF guard at the Chandigarh airport on Thursday afternoon. Kangana was travelling to New Delhi days after her Lok Sabha elections win from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi constituency. The CISF woman constable, identified as Kulwinder Kaur, has been suspended. An FIR is being registered against the CISF constable at Chandigarh Airport based on a written complaint by CISF officials. A complaint has also been filed by CISF to the local police. Amid this, veteran director Ram Gopal Varma has come forward to extend his support to Kangana.
On Friday, Ram Gopal Varma took to his X(formerly Twitter) handle and condemned the slapping incident. He wrote, “The CISF constable who slapped #KanganaRanaut was at that place in her job as a security person which is what which gave her access to #KanganaRanaut .. Defending that dastardly act by calling it a protest due to some comment made should be strongly condemned.”

Previously, Kangana slammed the film industry for “celebrating” the attack and not supporting her. Taking to Instagram Stories, Kangana wrote, “All eyes on Rafah Gang this can happen to you or your children as well. When you celebrate a terror attack on someone be ready for the day it comes back to you as well.”
In another post that she deleted soon after, she had written, “Dear film industry you all are either celebrating or are totally mum on the airport attack on me remember if tomorrow if you walking disarmingly on some street of your country or anywhere else in the world and some Israeli / Palestinian hits you or your children just because you tried to bring eyes to Rafah or stood up for Israeli hostage… then you will see I will be fighting for your rights of free speech, if someday you wonder why I am where I am remember you are not me…”
CNN-News18 has learned that Kangana Ranaut was slapped by CISF personnel LCT Kulwinder Kaur while proceeding to the boarding gate after the security check. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, but it is speculated that it could be related to Kangana’s previous remarks on the farmers’ protest in India. Kulwinder Kaur mentioned that Kangana had made disparaging remarks about Punjab women during the farmers’ agitation against the three farm laws.
Although the CISF has not offered any clarification on the incident, it is reported that an inquiry committee consisting of senior officers has been set up to look into the matter.
