Riteish Deshmukh Recalls Getting Injured During An Action Scene in Kakuda: 'No One Realised I Was Hurt'
‘Kakuda’ is the tale of a small town in Uttar Pradesh haunted by a mysterious ghost who curses men with a hunchback.

Riteish Deshmukh is back on screen with a bang in ZEE5’s horror comedy ‘Kakuda,’ and he’s bringing more than just laughs to the table. As ghost hunter Victor, Deshmukh delivers a performance that is literally spine-tingling – both on and off camera.

This ZEE5 original, directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, has been creating buzz with its unique blend of horror, humor, and heartland folklore. Set in a quaint Uttar Pradesh town plagued by a mischievous ghost, ‘Kakuda’ follows Deshmukh’s character as he battles supernatural forces alongside co-stars Sonakshi Sinha and Saqib Saleem. But it’s not just the on-screen scares that have got people talking; a behind-the-scenes incident during filming proves that sometimes, the most thrilling moments in moviemaking are unscripted.

Recounting the incident, Riteish Deshmukh shared, “There’s a sequence in the promo where I get pushed and hit against the wall. Due to a slight miscommunication during coordination, the scene didn’t go as planned. They were supposed to pull me and then push me back towards the wall. In the heat of the moment, they applied too much force while pulling, and I ended up hurting my spine and wrist. The action director and everyone on set were like, ‘acha kar rahe hain, bahut acha acting hai’ No one realized I was actually hurt until I told them. It was that bad.”

‘Kakuda’ is the tale of a small town in Uttar Pradesh haunted by a mysterious ghost who curses men with a hunchback, dooming them to die within 13 days unless they leave a small door open every Tuesday evening. The film follows Sunny (Saqib Saleem) and Indira (Sonakshi Sinha) as they enlist the help of ghost hunter Victor (Riteish Deshmukh) to break the curse. With its blend of horror, comedy, and folklore, ‘Kakuda’ is a unique and entertaining cinematic experience that keeps audiences on the edge of their seats.
