If you have not been living under a rock, by now you must have heard the viral rap version of ‘Rasode mei kaun tha’ from the show Saath Nibhaana Saathiya, featuring Rupal Patel (Kokilaben), Gia Manek (Gopi Modi) and Rucha Hasabnis (Rashi). It quickly turned into a meme and both fans and celebs joined the bandwagon to share it across their social media handles.
Soon after, it was reported that given the new popularity to the show, the showmakers are planning to come with Saath Nibhaana Saathiya and the lead actress Rupal Patel who played Kokilaben on the show will be reprising her role. However, when Patel was asked about returning to the role, she quashed such reports saying she hasn’t been approached for the second part of the show yet.
“Actually, I have heard about it, but I’m not sure about the same. Right now, I’m happy playing the role of Meenakshi Rajvansh on Yeh Rishtey Hai Pyaar Ke on Star Plus. But my love and blessings are with Rashmi ma’am," Rupal told Latestly in an interview.
On the contrary, Saath Nibhaana Saathiya producer Rashmi Sharma told Mumbai Mirror that the team mulled over the idea for a new season amid the lockdown. She said that SNS cannot be complete without the Modi family and confirmed that Rupal will be reprising her role along with Devoleena Bhattacharjee.
Rashmi added that their confidence in a new season was boosted by the fact that SNS was watched diligently during its re-run on TV during the coronavirus pandemic. For season 2, Rashmi said the story will have many twists and turns but it will remain a family drama at its heart.
Rupal is presently seen in Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke. Produced by Rajan Shahi’s Director’s Kut Productions, it stars Shaheer Sheikh and Rhea Sharma in lead roles.
