Sam Raimi Hopes Marvel Will Approach Him To Direct More Films
Sam Raimi attended the WonderCon in California to promote his latest project, Boy Kills World.

Despite much anticipation from the fans, the Marvel Studios has not provided any updates about the upcoming Avengers films, The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars. Even after two years since the announcement of the projects, the makers have neither announced the tentative release date, the villain cast, or the film’s directors. Now, director Sam Raimi has expressed his interest in directing a Marvel film. While talking to ScreenGeek year at WonderCon, the Spider-Man trilogy director said that he hopes Marvel Studios will reach out to him with new directorial projects.

Raimi said, “I love 90% of the Marvel heroes that I’ve read in the great Stan Lee Marvel Universe comic books. I would love to work with Marvel again. They haven’t reasonably asked me to. I hope they had a good experience with me. They haven’t asked me yet. I hope they do.” Raimi was at WonderCon to promote his latest project, Boy Kills World. The veteran director has worked with Marvel on several projects. He is best known for directing the Spiderman trilogy from 2002 to 2007, which starred Tobey Maguire in the lead. He made a comeback at Marvel more than a decade later, after he was roped in to direct Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in 2022.

Over the years, many Marvel fans have deemed Raimi to be a suitable choice to helm upcoming films like Spider-Man 5 or the Avengers films.

At WonderCon, Raimi also addressed the rumours about directing Spider-Man 4. While talking to Comic Book Resources, Raimi said that he has read about the rumours of being roped in for Spider-Man 4, but so far he has not heard from the makers. He added that Marvel Studios and Columbia Pictures have made successful Spider-Man films in recent years so he is unsure if they will approached for Spider-Man. He said, “I mean, Marvel and Columbia are so successful with current Spider-Man movies, and the track there, and I don’t know that they’re going to go back to me.”

However, back in a 2022 interview with Comic Book, Raimi hinted at the possibility of making another Spider-Man film, considering his Dr Strange project which gets tied to Spider-Man in the 2021 film Spiderman: No Way Home. He said, “I’ve come to realize after making Doctor Strange that anything is possible, really anything in the Marvel universe, any team-ups. I love Tobey. I love Kirsten Dunst. I think all things are possible.”
