Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri’s love story is no less than a Bollywood movie itself. The duo met in their teens and gradually fell in love. Shah Rukh was all of 18 when he fell head over heels for a beautiful young Gauri. The duo reportedly met in Delhi at a party when SRK wanted to ask Gauri out. They spoke to each other for five awkward minutes sipping colas before they parted ways. But as fate would have it, SRK got Gauri’s number and started pursuing his soulmate. After dating for a good period, they got married in October 1991.
Back in the 90s, during an interview with Leheren, Shah Rukh Khan was asked if he’s scared of his wife Gauri. He had said that no one from the outside will be able to gauge the relationship they share.
He said, “Apko yeh baat maalum hee nahi ho sakti hai. Agar aap mere patni hoti toh apko maalum hota. You can’t really make out. Jo do logo ki relation hoti hai, especially husband and wife, boyfriend-girlfriend, lovers … bahut personal hoti hai. Toh koi bhi aadmi bahar se woh relation samajh hee nahi sakta. Jo relationship bedroom mein hoti hai, that relationship bahar se koi bhi nahi samajh sakta. Toh kahi log aisa samajhte honge ke main darta hu. Very happy agar unko aisa lagta hai toh. Koi samajhta ghai bahut pyaar karta hu toh unko aisa lagta hoga. Jo hum dono ke beech mein hai, woh hum dono ko hee maalum hai. Woh bolne ke baad bhi log nahin samajh sakte (You can’t really know. The relationship between two people, especially husband and wife, boyfriend-girlfriend, lovers… is very personal. So, no one from the outside can understand that relationship. The relationship inside the bedroom, no one can understand it from the outside. So, some people might think I’m scared. If they feel that way, then I’m very happy. Some might think I love someone very much. What’s between us, only we know. Even after saying it, people can’t understand)."
The couple welcomed their son Aryan, six years after their wedding and in 2000, they were blessed with their daughter, Suhana. In 2013, the couple became parents to AbRam Khan.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Shah Rukh Khan will soon be seen in a film with Suhana Khan. Titled King, the film will be directed by Sujoy Ghosh, and Siddharth Anand will be overseeing the action.
