Actor Soha Ali Khan recently talked about her family’s royal heritage and their historic home, Pataudi Palace. She revealed that her brother, Saif Ali Khan, uses white-wash instead of paint to save money. In an interview with Cyrus Broacha on the Housing.com YouTube channel, Soha also mentioned that their mother, Sharmila Tagore, manages the household finances.
Talking about managing the Pataudi Palace, she said, “My mother sits with her hisaab-kitaab; she knows daily expenditure and monthly expenditure. For example, we whitewash Pataudi, it’s not painted because it’s a lot less expensive. And we haven’t bought anything new for a long time. It’s the architecture of the place that’s most inviting; it’s not the things, it’s not the objects”.
She added, “I was born after the privy purses and royal titles were abolished in 1970. My brother was born a prince, because he was born in 1970… With the titles comes a lot of responsibility and bills… My grandmother was the begum of Bhopal and my grandfather was the nawab of Pataudi; he loved her for many years but was not allowed to marry her… ”
She also mentioned that her grandfather ran out of money during the palace’s construction, leading to more carpets than marble in some rooms. Soha is in charge of the generator room, which is a two-bedroom space.
Not long back, Soha Ali Khan enjoyed delightful vacation with her mother Sharmila Tagore, and sister Saba Pataudi in London.
On the work front, Soha Ali Khan will next be seen in director Vishal Furia’s horror film Chhorii 2. The story revolves around Sakshi, who rescues her seven-year-old daughter from a superstitious cult while dealing with societal issues and ongoing horrors affecting her and other young women. Chhorii 2 features Nushrratt Bharuccha, Hardika Sharma, and Saurabh Goyal in key roles. On the personal front, Soha Ali Khan got married to actor Kunal Kemmu on January 25, 2015. The couple welcomed Inaaya in 2017.
