Actors Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal tied the knot on Sunday, after years of keeping their relationship under wraps. The couple married in a civil ceremony at Sonakshi’s Bandra residence, which was attended by their family and close friends. Several videos and photos from the duo’s wedding and pre-wedding ceremonies have made their way to the internet.
In one such video, Sonakshi was seen wiping off her tears as Zaheer’s close friend Jannat Vasi Lokhandwala put garland on her. Sharing the video, Jannat wrote, “My brother is married. Congratulations Paa and Sona. So happy for you.”
Sonakshi and Zaheer hosted a grand wedding reception at Shilpa Shetty’s restaurant Bastian in Mumbai with Bollywood’s who’s who in attendance. Sonakshi was seen dressed in a red saree and sported sindoor as she made her first public appearance with husband Zaheer Iqbal after their wedding. Before the celebrations on Sunday, the couple hosted an intimate Mehndi bash for friends and family on June 20. The party saw Sonakshi’s parents, Shatrughan Sinha and Poonam Sinha, also in attendance.
Sonakshi and Zaheer jointly shared the first photos from their intimate wedding ceremony on Instagram on Sunday. However, the couple turned off their comment section as they have been subjected to immense trolling, owing to their inter-faith marriage.
Sharing the pics, the newlyweds wrote, “On this very day, seven years back (23.06.2017) in each others eyes, we saw love in its purest form and decided to hold on to it. Today that love has guided us through all the challenges and triumphs… leading up to this moment… where with the blessings of both our families and both our gods… we are now man and wife.
