Indian lyricist, playback singer and actor Swanand Kirkire was in shock after learning about Pakistani musician Haniya Aslam’s passing. Haniya, of the duo Zeb-Haniya, died on Sunday night. She had a cardiac arrest. The news was shared by Zeb on Instagram. Swanand took to the comments section to express his shock. “WTF … what happend ? OMG,” he wrote.
Swanand then shared a post on his Instagram Stories and wrote, “This is not fair god… This sweet girl, my dear Haniya is no more. She suffered a cardiac arrest. Haniya and I had a special bond. She was a musician par excellence and the purest soul I have met. Rest in Peace.” He then shared his last chat with Haniya.
In the chat, the duo checked up on each other. Sharing a screenshot of their chat, he revealed that the two were working on an album before she died. “My dearest Haniya Aslam @citrushaniya is no more. She suffered a cardiac arrest and passed away peacefully last night. We shared a special bond when we collaborated on @dewarists 2. ‘Kaho kya khayal hai’ I’m sharing my last conversation with her, which took place just a few days ago. We have an unfinished album that we were working on together,” he said.
Addressing Zeb, Swanand wrote, “@zebbangash, sending you and your family a big hug. May God give you the strength to cope with this loss. Haniya, we will see you on the other side. Until then, your sweet voice and melodious guitar riffs will continue to play in our ears, reminding us of the terrible loss of losing you. .” Zeb took to the comments section and thanked him for his love. She wrote, “❤️❤️ Love you Swanand and she loved you also, truly.”

Director Kiran Rao also took to the comments section to express her shock. She wrote, ” I can’t believe it. RIP, dearest Haniya.” Singer-musician Ankur Tewari added, “This is shocking. Just spoke with her a couple of weeks back. .”
Haniya delivered many popular songs with her cousin, Zeb. One of their biggest hits was Chal Diye.
