Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah actor Palak Sindhwani has dismissed reports claiming she received a legal notice from the makers for allegedly breaching an “exclusivity” contract. Recently, a report claimed that the show’s production house – Neela Telefilms – is preparing to issue a notice to the actress for third-party endorsements and public appearances without prior written permission. However, Palak, who plays the role of Sonu in TMKOC, has now claimed that the report is false.
“It’s a rumour, I haven’t breached any contract. I’m shooting for Taarak tomorrow with a 7 am shift and have not received any legal notice,” she told Moneycontrol.
Palak further revealed that she even discussed the report with the show’s producer Asit Kumarr Modi and urged him to look into the issue. The young actress also stated that dealing with such reports is ‘stressful’ and added that the truth will be out soon.
“I informed him about the false news that’s been spreading since last night and told him it’s affecting my mental health while I’m shooting back-to-back for our show TMKOC’s Ganapati sequence. I requested that he look into this as soon as possible and clear up any misunderstandings. I’m trying to find out. It’s stressful indeed but the truth will come out. I want to speak about this further, but first want to speak to the producer or his legal team. On Monday, they’ll meet me,” she said.
TMKOC is one of the longest-running sitcoms on Indian television. It has been running successfully for 16 years now. Originally, Jheel Mehta used to play the role of Sonu aka Sonalika Aatmaram Bhide in the show. However, she left TMKOC in 2012. Jheel Mehta was replaced by Nidhi Bhanushali but she also quit in 2019.
In these 16 years, several other actors including Disha Vakani, Raj Anadkat, Shailesh Lodha, Gurucharan Singh and Jennifer Mistry have also left TMKOC. Recently, Kush Shah also announced that he is no longer a part of the sitcom.
