Tamil Industry Can Lose Thousands Of Crores If Vijay Quits: Reports
Vijay officially launched his political party Thamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam, on Friday, February 2, shocking the Tamil film industry.

South superstar Thalapathy Vijay has sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry with his recent announcement of entering politics, coupled with reports of quitting his illustrious film career. The actor, who enjoys an immense fan following and is renowned for his box-office hits, officially launched his political party, Thamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam, on February 2, with plans to contest in the 2026 Tamil Nadu assembly polls.

The unexpected move has raised concerns within the Tamil film industry, as the departure of Vijay could potentially result in significant financial ramifications. Industry estimates suggest that the Tamil film fraternity may face a staggering loss of Rs 1000 crore due to the departure of the superstar. Vijay’s films have consistently been blockbuster hits, generating massive revenue during their theatrical runs and commanding substantial viewership during television and OTT premieres.

Vijay, often referred to as Thalapathy, is undeniably one of the biggest stars in the Indian film landscape and his decision to step into politics has far-reaching implications. The actor’s influence extends beyond the silver screen, highlighting the emotional connection and adoration fans have for him.

However, in a twist of irony, an old video dating back a decade has resurfaced on the internet, showcasing Vijay expressing disinterest in politics. The video, excerpted from the show Coffee With Anu Kaavalan, adds an intriguing layer to the narrative surrounding Vijay’s political entry.

Despite his impending foray into politics, Vijay’s cinematic journey remains remarkable. His last film, Leo, released in 2023, emerged as one of the biggest hits, surpassing the 600 crore mark at the box office. The actor is gearing up for his next project titled GOAT (The Greatest Of All Time), directed by Venkat Prabhu. The film, featuring Vijay in a double role, boasts a star-studded ensemble cast including Prabhu Deva, Prashanth, Sneha, Laila, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Yogi Babu and others. Produced by Kalpathi S Aghoram, Kalpathi S Ganesh and Kalpathi S Suresh under the banner of AGS Entertainment, GOAT has already created considerable anticipation among fans.
