The Sabarmati Report: Vikrant Massey, Raashii Khanna's Film Gets A New Release Date, Find Out Here

Vikrant Massey, fresh off the success of his recent film 12th Fail, has unveiled his next project. Titled ‘The Sabarmati Report’, the film will explore the tragic burning of the Sabarmati Express in Godhra, Gujarat, 22 years ago on February 22, 2002. After releasing the teaser, the makers have finally announced the release date of the same.

Offering a glimpse into previously undisclosed details about the events that transpired 22 years ago, the producers have officially announced the release date of ‘The Sabarmati Report’ as August 2, 2024. Balaji Motion Pictures, during the submission of the film for certification, received a suggestion to alter the release date due to potential conflicts with Indian election laws. Consequently, the decision was made to launch the film on August 2, 2024.

In the movie, Vikrant plays Samar Kumar, a Hindi journalist. He teams up with a fellow reporter, Raashii Khanna, and a senior anchor, Ridhi Dogra. Together, they uncover the truth about the Godhra incident, believing it to be an attack on pilgrims, not an accident. As they try to gather evidence, they face attacks and scrutiny from their bosses.

In the teaser, Vikrant Massey, as Samar, also discusses the national language controversy, presenting arguments in favour of the Hindi language. He says, “Haan mein hu Hindi wallah, aur mere jaise iss desh mein crore hai jo Hindi bolte hai. Toh ek din aisa aaega jab Hindi humare pehchan dubara banege aur tab India banega Bharat (I am a Hindi speaker like crores in the country. That day will soon come when Hindi will become our identity and then India will become Bharat).”

The thriller is inspired by the real-life event of the 2002 Sabarmati Express fire, which deeply impacted the entire nation. Produced by Ekta Kapoor, the film features Vikrant Massey, who is basking in the success of 12th Fail, in the lead. Joining him on screen for the first time is Raashi Khanna, renowned for her work in Farzi, marking her Hindi film debut. The Sabarmati Report is all set to hit theaters on May 3, 2024. Vikrant Massey, Raashi Khanna and actor Riddi Dogra, who was last seen in Jawan, will star in the lead roles of the film. Directed by Ranjan Chandel, it is co-produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ekta Kapoor, Amul V Mohan, and Anshul Mohan.
