He is now the heartthrob of many and a pan-India superstar.Wwe are talking about Kannada star Yash, who shot to fame after the monstrous success of KGF: Chapter 1. He started his career as an assistant director at the age of 16. He went on to work as a backstage worker, where he was paid Rs 50. Before taking the world of cinema by storm with his performance, Yash had his fair share of struggle.

Born in a village in Karnataka, Yash was named Naveen by his father’s side whereas his mother’s side named him Yashwanth. Later, while entering the industry, he adopted his stage name Yash. His father is Arun Kumar Gowda. He was a driver for the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation and the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation. Ever since he was a child, he aspired to be an actor and was not interested in pursuing studies. However, he completed his education at his parents’ insistence.

In 2003, at the age of 16, he left for Bangalore to work as an assistant director. His parents allowed him to go on one condition. They said that he wouldn’t be allowed to go back if he returned home. The project he started working on was cancelled after only two days of filming, following which he started working backstage.

He got his debut teleserial Uttarayana in 2004 and went on to star in several TV series like Nanda Gokula, Male Billu, and Preeti Illada Mele. While working in serials, he was offered seven films but continued to refuse them for not being given the scripts of those projects. This led people to view him as an arrogant newcomer.

Finally, Yash made his debut in films with a supporting role in Priya Hassan’s Jambada Hudugi. His first film as lead was Rocky. The film fell flat at the box office. Yash tasted his first box-office success as lead after the release of the romantic comedy, Modalasala. He became a pan-India superstar with the release of KGF: Chapter 1, helmed by Prashanth Neel. It emerged as the highest-grossing Kannada film during its theatrical run. Yash charges Rs 150 crore for film now, as per reports.

Yash is now reportedly gearing up for Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi.
