When BTS Faced Immense Pressure During First Contract Renewal
The brand new docu-series BTS Monuments: Beyond The Star will delve into the band's 10-year journey.

Treating the ARMY to an epic delve into their 10-year journey, Kpop sensation BTS is here with its eight-part docuseries titled BTS Monuments: Beyond The Star. While the first two episodes of the new limited series are already on-air, the remaining ones will be dropped every Wednesday. The series, which will focus on some of the defining moments in the group’s career, gave a glimpse into how the members broke into tears back in 2018, the time when they had to renew their contracts for the first time since debuting. This particular revelation also broke the hearts of fans, who discovered the kind of pressure their idols faced.

In the initial episodes, as the members discussed their past contract renewal, V began by explaining that the band took part in a lot of discussions about whether they should renew or not. The talks involved almost everyone, including the members and those in the company. Chiming in, Suga got really honest as he explained that the members faced a lot of pressure, prompting them to have thoughts of “quitting.”

It was then that V, in particular, further revealed that the pressure got so intense that he cried with the members, specifically pointing out the times he did it with Jungkook and J-Hope. Adding more to it, Jin mentioned that all the pressure came from the fact that they didn’t have any idea about the kind of attention that they got.

“I don’t like garnering so much attention, and it’s hard psychologically. I don’t have the confidence to endure this pressure,” said Jin, as quoted by a Koreaboo report.

BTS opens up about their toughest times

Recalling that the members faced significant struggles in the early phase of their debut, Jungkook further revealed that the initial period right after their debut was even more challenging. Joining in, Jimin and RM also spoke about the pressure that they felt to constantly improve and that they weren’t good enough.

In a trailer shared from the docuseries, a few behind-the-scenes footage sheds light on the physical and mental exhaustion that they had to undergo during that time. These challenges further persisted throughout their career, leading them to disband in 2018.
