Be it Magbool, The Lunchbox, Namesake, Life of Pi or Piku, actor Irrfan Khan knew how to depict every kind of role with perfection. He was a talented and versatile actor in Bollywood, who left a lasting impression with his work. On April 29, 2020, he left the world at the age of 53, after battling with cancer. Yesterday was his 4th death anniversary. On this special occasion, let us take a look at a time when Irrfan Khan spoke about his struggling days before making it big in Bollywood. He revealed he once worked as an AC technician. In an interview, Irrfan Khan said: “I was doing some training in a technical course in Jaipur and I came to Bombay through this training of air conditioning. Then I started going on the field, to different houses to repair air conditioners.” He also added that he thought that the work was so boring. “I realised I cannot earn money just for the sake of earning money, it has to be the by-product. I have to be fascinated with what I am doing,” said Irrfan Khan.

Irrfan Khan was born on January 7, 1967, in Tonk, Rajasthan. His interest in acting was fuelled by his maternal uncle, who was a theatre artist in Jodhpur. Irrfan Khan started performing on stage in Jaipur. Later, he joined the National School of Drama in New Delhi in 1984. And the rest, as they say, is history.

Not only Bollywood, Irrfan Khan made his name in Hollywood as well. He starred in Hollywood blockbusters and Oscar-winning films like Jurassic World, The Amazing Spider-Man, Slumdog Millionaire, and Life of Pi.

Irrfan Khan’s son, actor Babil Khan is now continuing his father’s legacy in Bollywood. He has starred in films like Qala and web shows like The Railway Men. He is already garnering praises for his acting skills. In a recent interview, Babil Khan discussed how, when he was just 10 years old, he was inseparable from his father. Babil Khan said, “I had distance from my father, physical distance because he was shooting a lot, but he was very affectionate towards me when he was there.”
