Actor Randeep Hooda is known for his versatility on screen. His recently-released film Swatantra Veer Savarkar marked his debut as a director. This political biopic has been garnering limelight for a long time now. After this film, speculations about Randeep Hooda’s political aspirations started doing the rounds. Many reports stated that he might be cotesting for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as well. A month back, Randeep Hooda refuted these rumours and shared his stance on the matter. He said in an interview, “It’s not the right time to jump into it (politics) and leave my movie career because being half-hearted has never excited me.” Randeep Hooda also stated that politics is as serious a career as a movie maker or an actor. He said that he has been more than sincere and full-hearted about his acting career. Randeep Hooda added that if he ever joins politics, he’ll take it on as a full-time job. “I’m not a person who can do many things at the same time,” he said.
Randeep Hooda had to go through a massive transformation for Swantantra Veer Savarkar. In another interview, he revealed that he lost nearly 32 kgs for his role in the film. He recalled the times he would be hungry at times on set. Randeep Hooda added that while it is a luxury to starve as an actor, but curse when one’s the director. Citing the reason for the same, he said: “Because you lose patience. People are having lunch breaks, evening nashta breaks, that break and you’re just a person sitting there hungry. When you’re hungry you have more energy. So that was a very big thing which I think everybody suffered from me as a hangry person on set.”
Not only this, Randeep Hooda revealed that he confined himself voluntarily within a cell to understand Savarkar’s experience in a jail. He openly confessed that he couldn’t stay there for even twenty minutes.
