Marvel fans are in for a treat. After a wait of about 10 years, Marvel Studios has unveiled the trailer of X-Men ’97. The upcoming animated series is the sequel to the much-loved X-Men: The Animated Series streamed from 1992 to 1997 for five seasons. X-Men ’97 is the continuation of the popular 90s animated show, functioning as the sixth season. The plot will begin after the 1997 series finale, titled Graduation Day. The trailer of X-Men ’97 brings back the X-Men squad — Wolverine, Cyclops, Rogue, Morph, Bishop Gambit, Beast, and Jubilee among others. The series will start streaming on Disney Plus from March 20.

The fifth segment of X-Men: The Animated Series concluded with the death of Professor X or Charles Xavier. X-Men ’97’s trailer opens with a sneak peek of the finale where the X-Men are gathered around the Professor who is on his deathbed. Grateful to be a part of the team, he says his final goodbye as the others shed tears. “The fate lies in our hands," says one of the members as the Professor’s casket is buried in the ground. Soon the scene shifts to the present times of the X-Men ’97 premises where Cyclops can be heard saying, “We have to stay vigilant, the professor entrusted us with his dream."

The city erupts with anti-mutant protests as the X-Men fight against powerful Sentinel robots, and other enemies. The evil Magneto also features in the trailer, taking control of everything the professor built by obtaining his last testament and will. The X-Men swear to revive the lost position, defeating their enemies. They embark on a mission filled with umpteen fight sequences and superheroic battles to save the dream of their Professor.

Along with the trailer, a new poster of X-Men ’97 was released on February 15, featuring the entire X-Men squad.

Reacting to the poster one fan wrote, “One of my all-time fav cartoons" another noted, “It’s gonna be woke, I BET YOU." “Love it," read a third comment.
