Zeenat Aman and Neetu Kapoor, the enchanting duo who once impressed their fans with their camaraderie in the iconic 1977 blockbuster Dharam Veer, reunited on Karan Johar’s chat show Koffee With Karan season 8. Previously, Zeenat appeared on the show alongside Hema Malini and this time, she shared the couch with Neetu. In this latest episode, the two legendary actresses, along with Karan, delved into diverse topics, including Rishi Kapoor’s final days, industry rivalries and their opinion on the male dominated film industry. During a segment, the host inquired about their friendship with Rekha, to which Neetu affectionately described the Umrao Jaan star as sweet, funny and friendly.
Zeenat said, “I worked in some films with Rekha. I think Neetu at that time was much closer to Rekha.” The Jugjugg Jeeyo star added, “I’ve never done any work with Rekha. I really don’t know how it started. She was just a very friendly person. She is a very sweet and warm person. She would just drop by without informing me. So, she was just like one of those girls and I was also very friendly. I liked that. She was very funny, she used to imitate, she used to do a lot of mimicry.”
Karan Johar, in another statement, revealed that during the earlier days, there were stories about a supposed rivalry between Zeenat Aman and Parveen Babi. Both actresses were considered as the epitome of westernized beauty and the industry often framed them as competitors. However, recalling Zeenat’s social post for Parveen Karan also clarified that there was never any true rivalry between them. He highlighted that they each had their own unique paths and existence in the industry. Despite the external perceptions, whenever they met each other, there was always a mutual love and respect.
Neetu Kapoor contributed to the discussion by asserting that there was no rivalry among the actresses of their time. Neetu highlighted that they continue to maintain connections. While Zeenat Aman shared her experience of reconnecting with Neetu after years.
