An important name in the Maratha quota agitation, Manoj Jarange-Patil, has been admitted to a hospital after he fell ill, following an assembly. Patil gained recognition for leading the protest advocating for Maratha community reservation in Maharashtra.
The activist traveled through various regions of Maharashtra to raise awareness regarding the need for reservation for the Maratha community.
Previously, he directed criticism toward Maharashtra’s deputy chief minister, Devendra Fadnavis, alleging that certain individuals close to him spoke disparagingly about the Marathas. He urged Fadnavis to intervene and prevent such remarks.
“This is my last request you can say. They (leaders in Maharashtra) should see that there should be no disgruntlement among people. There are five-seven people who speak about Maratha (community) and are close to Devendra Fadnavis,” the leader was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.
The leader had also given a deadline to the state to provide reservations by December 24 or face consequences. The leader had, however, said he is confident of present Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
