Abhishek Bachchan said he is in shock after learning about director Sanjay Gadhvi’s death. The actor, who worked with the filmmaker on Dhoom and Dhoom 2, took to Instagram remembered. Abhishek shared two never-before-seen photos of Sanjay and revealed that he spoke to him just last week. The actor recalled revisiting their days on the sets of Dhoom and Dhoom 2 together in their last call. Abhishek added that he never thought in his ‘craziest dreams’ that he would be penning a tribute to him.
“I took this photo of Sanjay whilst we were filming the climax of Dhoom 2 in South Africa. We made 2 films together – Dhoom and Dhoom 2. Sanju, when I spoke to you last week and we were reminiscing about our shoots and memories I would never have imagined even in my craziest dreams that I would have to write a post like this.
I’m shocked beyond belief,” Abhishek wrote.
“You had faith in me, even when I didn’t. You gave me my first ever hit!!! I can never ever forget that or be able express what it meant to me. I will cherish your friendship always. Rest in peace my brother,” he concluded the note.
Dhoom was produced by Yash Raj Films. The official handle also paid a tribute to the filmmaker. Sharing a picture of the director, the production house said, “The magic he created on screen will be cherished forever. May his soul rest in peace. #SanjayGadhvi.” Anupam Kher took to the comments section and wrote, “Unbelievable! And so so sad! .” Uday Chopra also added, “Will miss you Gadhvi!”
Who was Sanjay Gadhvi?
Sanjay became a household name with Dhoom in 2004. The film starred John Abraham, Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra and it was a massive blockbuster. He returned with Dhoom 2 in 2006 with Abhishek Bachchan, Uday Chopra and Rimi Sen, and this time around, he had Hrithik Roshan, Aishwarya Rai and Bipasha Basu join the cast. The film was a bigger hit than Dhoom.
