Shah Rukh Khan's Dunki For Oscars? Rajkumar Hirani Film Likely To Be Submitted For Nominations
Released in December 2023, Dunki marked first collaboration between Shah Rukh Khan and Rajkumar Hirani.

Shah Rukh Khan and Rajkumar Hirani’s collaboration was one of the most-awaited and when it finally happened in December 2023, it left everyone completely impressed. Their movie, Dunki, ruled the box office and received positive reviews from all. And now, if reports are to be believed, the makers of Dunki are planning to submit the film for the Oscars 2023.

As reported by Box Office Worldwide, Dunki is likely to be submitted for The Academy Awards nomination. If this turns out to be true, it will be Shah Rukh Khan’s third movie to be submitted for Oscar nominations. Previously, his 2004 movie Swades and 2005 film Paheli were also submitted for the prestigious awards nomination. However, it should also be noted that there is no official confirmation regarding Dunki being considered for Oscar nominations as of now.

Released on December 21, Dunki follows the emotional journey of a group of friends who want to move abroad. The plot follows the exciting journey of those who choose an unconventional route known as the Donkey Flight, showing the difficulties they face on their way. Besides SRK, it also stars Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal in key roles. The film has earned over Rs 300 crore at the Indian office.

In a recent interview with News18 Showsha, Rajkumar Hirani revealed that SRK was sure that even though the comedy-drama would win hearts, it wouldn’t rake the kind of figures that actioners like Jawan and Pathaan did.

“He had always told me not to expect huge numbers at the box office initially. He knew it was a slow burner and the audience and family would eventually lap up to the film and start coming in. More than anyone, he was preparing me and that is what exactly happened. We have seen many families coming together to theatres to watch the film,” he told us.
