Donning Tribal Headgear, PM Modi Brings Shades of Tripura at 'Aadi Mahotsav' in Delhi
Aadi Mahotsav showcases the rich and diverse heritage of tribes from across the country in over 200 stalls at the venue - Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in Delhi

Donning a headgear from Tripura, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated today “Aadi Mahotsav”, a mega National Tribal Festival, at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in Delhi. This year, Aadi Mahotsav is being organised from February 16 to 27.

PM Modi was seen wearing a headgear from Tripura, the state which is voting today for the assembly election.

The Aadi Mahotsav, which celebrates the spirit of tribal culture, crafts, cuisine, commerce and traditional art, is an annual initiative of Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation Limited (TRIFED) under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, a press release stated.

Addressing the opening of Aadi Mahotsav, PM Modi said that the pride with which the country is moving ahead regarding the tribal society has never happened before.

“Tribal products should reach maximum market, their recognition should increase, their demand should increase, the government is continuously working in this direction as well,” PM Modi said.

According to the press release, Aadi Mahotsav will showcase the rich and diverse heritage of tribes from across the country in over 200 stalls at the venue. Around 1000 tribal artisans will participate in the Mahotsav.

“Since 2023 is being celebrated as the International Year of Millets, along with usual attractions like handicrafts, handloom, pottery, jewellery etc., a special focus in the Mahotsav will be on showcasing Shree Anna grown by tribals,” the press release said.

PM Modi said at the inauguration that in the last 8-9 years, events like Aadi Mahotsav that are connected to the tribal community have become a campaign for the country. “I myself become a part of several such programmes. The tribal community’s welfare is also a matter of personal relations and sentiments for me,” PM Modi said.

“India of 21st century is walking on mantra of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’. Now government goes from Delhi to meet that which was considered far away. That which considered itself far away is now being brought to mainstream,” PM said at at Aadi Mahotsav.
