The Centre has invited tech firms to come up with online tutoring solutions that can provide “real-time” support and guidance to students so that every student is covered “irrespective of his/her background”. The central government’s digital arm has asked for applications from tech firms and start-ups developing such interventions under the PM e-vidya initiative.
According to the document inviting the applications from edtech companies accessed by News18, online tutoring solution should provide “real-time” support and guidance to students when they encounter difficulties, ensuring timely assistance. “The tools developed must be capable of tailoring content/interventions as per the learning level of the student. It should also have comprehensive analytical capabilities to track improvement in areas against which the capability is being leveraged by students and teachers,” read the document, which allows firms to submit their applications by December 22.
The applications being invited are aimed at exploring various features, capabilities and solutions available in the market or being developed by existing organisations or startups that are in line with the requirements under the new National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the Union Ministry of Education (MoE).
The NEP envisages enhancing the digital learning experience of students and teachers and to explore procurement models to provision the capabilities at scale. During the pandemic, schools and higher education institutions switched to virtual classrooms completely while even currently hybrid learning is what all institutions are looking forward to.
The document notes that by leveraging technology and new e-learning tools, educators across the world are increasingly adopting blended learning in-class and online learning strategies to deliver a holistic learning experience. “With this, learning is evolving and becoming more personalised and easily accessible for all learners. To provide personalised learning focusing on “just in time” interventions, right support is provided at right time so that every student is covered irrespective of their background,” it said.
According to the document, it will be key to identify among the participating organisations partners who are willing to align themselves with the current and future needs of the government’s two existing digital learning platforms — National Digital Education Architecture (NDEAR) and Digital Infrastructure for Knowledge Sharing (DIKSHA).
While NDEAR is a unifying national digital infrastructure platform to catalyse the education ecosystem launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in July 2021, DIKSHA is an initiative of the National Council for Educational Research and Training (NCERT) that offers learning material, relevant to the prescribed school curriculum, to teachers, students and parents, online.
“The participants will ensure that their solutions do not become stagnant and instead also contribute as a valuable partner to the comprehensive roadmap and technological innovations of NDEAR and DIKSHA platforms,” the document read.
