The Rajasthan Royals have released the full list of players retained ahead of the 2024 edition of the IPL. As many as 9 players have been released by the franchise. Former England captain Joe Root highlights the list who opted out of the forthcoming season.

One of the most decorated international cricketers for England, Root made his foray into the IPL set-up last season when the Rajasthan Royals picked him at the 2023 IPL mini-auction and played three matches in his debut season.
The 32-year-old’s addition to the Royals squad brought in plenty of depth and experience, which served as a learning experience for a lot of youngsters in the side like Dhruv Jurel, Riyan Parag, and Yashasvi Jaiswal in the team.
The other 8 players released by the franchise are – Abdul Basith, Jason Holder, Akash Vashisht, Kuldip Yadav, Obed McCoy, Murugan Ashwin, KC Cariappa, KM Asif.
The franchise being led by Sanju Samson along with the likes of Jos Buttler, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shimron Hetmeyer will now look ahead to the 2024 IPL mini-auction taking place on December 19, 2023.
The side will also look to improve on their previous season where they finished with 14 points missing out on a spot for the playoffs. The management led by Sri Lankan legend, Kumar Sangakkara and the new addition of Shane Bond will look to add more talent to their squad.
