With enthusiasm and vigor, BJP workers on Wednesday gave a grand welcome to Prime Minister Narendra Modi at party headquarters in New Delhi, days after the success of the recently concluded G20 Summit.
The meeting of party’s on the Central Election Committee (CEC) on the 2023 Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections began after PM Modi’s arrival. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP national president JP Nadda among others were present in the meeting.

Earlier, the committee had met on August 16, following which candidates were announced for 39 constituencies in BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh and 21 in Congress-ruled Chhattisgarh. The seats announced do not have sitting MLAs from the BJP.
Besides PM Modi, other key members of the committee include BJP President J P Nadda, Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
Before the the Lok Sabha elections in 2024, the BJP is busy strategizing for the key electoral battles in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Mizoram. The state elections hold even more significance for the saffron party in the wake of newly-formed Opposition bloc ‘INDIA’.
The Bhartiya Janta Party may have to refurbish their electoral strategies after facing defeat in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghosi bypolls, where a Samajwadi Party candidate — supported by ‘INDIA’ alliance — had registered victory.
India’s ‘Successful’ G20 Presidency
India last week hosted a successful G20 summit in New Delhi. Hailing the central leadership, the Indian industry leaders said that India’s growing prominence to world leaders helped it seal a consensus on the wide range of issues confronting the global economic and geopolitical environment at the just-concluded meeting.
“Reaching a consensus on a joint Declaration at the G20 meet would have been enough of a victory for Indian diplomacy. This development, may not have received as much attention, but is nothing less than a masterful diplomatic chess move. Through its Belt and Road initiative, China had hoped to shift the locus of geopolitical leadership. Those ambitions may remain dormant now, with the India-Middle East-Europe corridor offering a detour! Bravo, @PMOIndia @DrSJaishankar #AjitDoval,” Mahindra group chairman Anand Mahindra said in a post on X.
Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Saturday said that with 112 outcomes, India’s G20 Presidency has successfully harmonised developmental aspirations for a sustainable future.
India on Saturday pulled off a big diplomatic win after the G20 summit adopted a consensus declaration overcoming major differences on the Russia-Ukraine war, as PM Narendra Modi called for ending the “global trust deficit”. Modi also announced that the African Union was admitted as G20’s permanent member.
The induction of African Union as a permanent member in the G20 grouping marks one of the highlights of India’s Presidency. India along with other countries also laid the foundation stone of various initiatives including, the Global Biofuel Alliance, and the India-Middle East-Europe Corridor.
India has passed on G20 Presidency to Brazil President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
