'Unlikely to Hit the Nets': England Cricketers to Spend Free Time in Bengaluru and Chandigarh Ahead of 5th Test
England lost the fourth Test by five wickets in Ranchi to also concede the ongoing five-match series to India with a game to go.

The England cricketers are reportedly planning to spend their nine-day break ahead of the 5th Test against India in Bengaluru and Chandigarh. The fourth Test between the two teams concluded on the fourth day itself with India winning by five wickets to take an unassailable 3-1 lead in the five-match series.

During the long break between the 2nd and 3rd Test, entire England squad had flew to Abu Dhabi to spend their free time.

It was also in Abu Dhabi that the Ben Stokes-led side had trained before arriving in India for the series that began on January 25.

However, the players have chosen Chandigarh and Bengaluru for the week leading up to the Dharamsala Test.

“The squad will be split across Chandigarh and Bengaluru before the fifth Test. They are unlikely to hit the nets during the break. The squad arrives in Dharamsala about three days before the Test (March 4),” an ECB source told PTI.

The loss against India is the visitors’ first series defeat in the ‘Bazball’ era.

“It was a great Test match,” England captain Ben Stokes said after the 4th Test on Monday. “If you see the scoreboard, it’ll say India won by 5 wickets, but it doesn’t give credit to the way things unfolded, the ebbs and flows on every single day it happened. I can only be proud of my team, we ‘ve had some inexperienced spinners but I’m proud of their efforts, they came here without a lot of exposure and the way they kept bowling, I can’t ask for anything more.”

Despite the series loss, Stokes said he’s happy England gave it their all on the field. “The only thing I can say is we left nothing on the field, we’ve fought hard and I’m happy with that,” he said.
