'When Will the BS Stop?': Dwayne Brave Lashes Out After Brother Darren Not Picked in West Indies ODI Squad
Dwayne Bravo has unloaded on Windies Cricket chief selector Desmond Haynes and others after the non-selection of his brother Darren Bravo for an ODI series against England.

Former West Indies allrounder Dwayne Bravo has thrashed Cricket West Indies after not considering Darren Bravo for the upcoming ODI series against England at home.

Bravo has questioned the selection criteria while wondering if it’s been done solely on performance alone.

He asked why his brother Darren continues to be given the cold shoulder despite showcasing ‘exceptional talent’ for two seasons.

“SMH!!! When will the BS stop?! I’m not surprised by my brother’s non-selection, but with the recent changes in WI cricket management, I held onto a bit of hope for the better. This is NOT acceptable, and I just can’t make sense of it! So here are my burning questions: What’s the criteria for West Indies team selection? Surely, it can’t be solely based on performance?” Bravo wrote in a lengthy note on Instagram.

“For two seasons, my brother (Darren Bravo) showcased exceptional talent, becoming the leading run-scorer in the latest tournament with over 400 runs, a batting average of 83.2, and an SR of 92. I usually stay away from these discussions, but the mistreatment, disrespect, and dishonesty towards players over the years demand a voice. When will it stop? When will this BS actually stop?” he added.

West Indies called up Sherfane Rutherford and Matthew Forde, both uncapped in ODIs, for the three-match series with Shai Hope continuing as captain while Alzarri Joseph has been named as the vice-captain.

Darren, 34, has represented West indies in 122 ODIs so far, the last of which came in February 2022. He has scored 3109 runs at 30.18, hitting four centuries and 18 fifties.

Bravo further took aim at Windies chief selector Desmond Haynes alleging the system has failed again despite the presence of figures like him and former captain Darren Sammy.

“To Mr. Desmond Haynes, your statement didn’t surprise me. It feels like another former player singing for his supper. I hoped for trust in the system with figures like you, Sammy, and the new director of cricket, but the system failed again,” Bravo wrote.

He concluded by giving a pep talk to his brother while sending his wishes to Kjorn Ottley, Shane Dowrich and Rutherford.

“To my brother, this too shall pass. Keep your head up, stay focused, and trust in the Almighty. And, as always, I extend my best wishes to the team and selected players. It’s refreshing to see Ottley, Rutherford, and Dowrich back in the mix. Good Luck, guys!” wrote.

The three-match series starts from December 3.
