Quinton de Kock continued his dream run at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 with yet another century as he set the base for South Africa’s mammoth win over New Zealand in Pune on Wednesday.
It was an all-round performance from the South Africans as they first racked up a mammoth 357/4 in 50 overs after being put in to bat first and then skittled New Zealand for 167 runs in 35.3 overs.
Rassie van der Dussen also scored a century as he added 200 runs for the second wicket De Kock.

It seems De Kock is on a mission to leave a lasting memory for fans considering the world cup will be the final time he will be playing ODIs having announced his intention to retire from the format once the tournament ends.

Against New Zealand, he struck 10 fours and three sixes in a sparkling 116-ball 114 which is his fourth century of the edition. He now is a century away from drawing level with the all-time record of five centuries in a single edition of the world cup set by India’s Rohit Sharma.
De Kock has taken his overall tally of runs in the ongoing event to 545 runs to continue to sit at the top of the most run-getters list. He’s followed by Rachin Ravindra of New Zealand who has 415 runs with Australian David Warner (413), Rohit Sharma (398) and Aiden Markram (362) completing the top-five.
Van dur Dussen has climbed up to the eighth spot with 353 runs.
Afridi-Zampa Maintain Joint Lead in Golden Ball Race
Marco Jansen has moved into the top-10 list, entering at no. 6 after taking three wickets against New Zealand to take his tally to 13 from six matches.
Pakistan speedster Shaheen Afridi and Australia spinner Adam Zampa are the joint-leading wicket-takers so far. Both have 16 scalps each although Zampa has played six matches to Afridi’s seven.
India star Jasprit Bumrah is third on the list 14 scalps from six games.
