Chennai: Kalaignar TV, the satellite TV channel of the DMK, is now at the epicenter of the CBI's investigations into the 2G scam.
Owned by the DMK's first family, the channel has 20 per cent share of Karunanidhi's daughter Kanimozhi and 60 per cent share of his wife MK Dayalu.
The Managing Director Sharad Kumar is the other shareholder with 20 per cent stake.
The CBI's raids in Chennai were focused on the Managing Director and the Kalaignar TV office after allegations that the TV channel received several hundred crores of unsecured loans from companies linked to 2G beneficiaries.
"Kalaignar TV's stand in the issue has been communicated by Sharad Kumar in the statement. I have nothing more to add," said Rajya Sabha Member Kanimozhi.
But CBI sources said Kanimozhi herself may be questioned by the agency and Friday's raids came despite Kalaignar TV denying the allegations of links to 2G beneficiaries.
Meanwhile in New Delhi the CBI did not ask for an extension of custody for DB Reality owner Shahid Balwa and he has also now been remanded to judicial custody till March 3rd and sent to Tihar jail.
