Lucknow: Claiming that people of all castes have been given representation in the selection of candidates in state unit of Congress, union minister Sri Prakash Jaiswal on Friday claimed that the party is destined to return to power in next Assembly election.
Elated over two former MLAs, Mathura Prasad Pal and Arimardan Singh, respectively from the BSP and SP, joining the Congress on Friday, Jaiswal said that the traditional voters from among the backward and other communities which had been weaned away by leaders who later went on to become big names at their cost were now returning to the Congress.
"The team combination in the state unit has been so worked out by the Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi that all sections and castes have major role in it," he claimed.
Giving the caste wise representation in the state unit, Jaiswal said that no section of society would be able to complain on the matter of participation.
To a question that no "kshetriya" leader has been given major responsibility, he pointed at the central incharge Digvijay Singh.
Jaiswal said that people specially the youth have now realised that without the Congress the development of Uttar Pradesh was not possible.
"After a long gap Congress would return to power in Uttar Pradesh and the BSP would not return to power", he said.
"With the Union government taking all steps necessary for controlling price in the midst of global phenomenon it is not right to target it," he said adding that the government does not want to adversely hit the purchasing power of the people as it is linked to development.
