New Delhi: The ruling BJP on Saturday issued show cause notice to party MLA and former Agriculture Minister Behchar Bhadani for "indiscipline" and "speaking in public against Chief Minister Narendra Modi".
"Bhadani has been issued show cause notice for indiscipline and for speaking against the Chief Minister in Amreli on June 14," a BJP spokesperson was quoted by PTI.
"He has been asked to reply to the notice within seven days or face suspension," he added.
Bhadani, a dissident legislator, had reportedly hit out at Modi for his "dictatorial style of functioning".
"State BJP is decaying due to dictatorial ways of Modi. State secretariat has become cremation ground under the rule of Modi," said Bhadani, who is close to former CM Keshubhai Patel, a known Modi detractor.
"The party, which was a democratic unit before Modi, has turned into one which carries out `Vyakti-Puja' (worship of a person)," he had said in Amreli.
The statements of Bhadani, who was a minister in the Keshubhai Patel Cabinet, and is also a Patel leader of Amreli district, comes in an election year.
Bhadani was also present at a recent Patel community meet in Surat organised to show the strength of the community ahead of the elections.
In the last couple of years, BJP has suspended three of its MLAs -- Ramilaben Desai, Siddharth Parmar and Rakesh Rao - for alleged anti-party activities.
