The CMO reminded that the responsibility of conducting rallies in peaceful manner lay with the organisers.

Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh government on Thursday strongly condemned the violent incidents on Tank Bund road in Hyderabad during the million march agitation by Telangana supporters.

A late night statement issued by the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) said it was atrocious that the protesters who took part in the million march resorted to violence and destruction.

"The attack on some elected representatives is deplorable. The destruction of statues of Telugu legends is unfortunate. The attack on media personnel and damage caused to their equipment is regrettable. The damage caused to Dwcra building is also deplorable," the CMO release said, adding that the government strongly condemned those incidents.

It said denial of permission for rallies and marches was only to ensure public life was not affected.

"There is no other reason for such denial," it added.

The CMO reminded that the responsibility of conducting rallies and other agitations in peaceful manner lay with the organisers.
