Arvind Kejriwal meets AAP MLAs, discusses MHA notification
Bharatiya Janata Party leader Shazia Ilmi said, "MHA's notification is a clarification on Delhi's constitutional status. Arun Jaitley is right in saying that consensus must be built."

New Delhi: The AAP-led Delhi government on Sunday completed 100 days in office but the power struggle between Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung rages on. Kejriwal is currently meeting AAP MLAs to discuss the Home Ministry's notification backing the L-G's authority to appoint bureaucrats.

He had also called an emergency session of the Delhi Assembly on May 26 and 27. Sources said Assembly is likely to pass a resolution terming the notification unconstitutional.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia hit out at the Centre slamming it for its alleged "biggest u-turn" on the issue of full statehood to Delhi.

"The Centre's biggest u-turn in the last one year is on the issue of giving full statehood status to Delhi. Why is the BJP scared of a contest between Kejriwal and Modi?" Sisodia was quoted having said by the AAP's official twitter handle.

The appointment of senior bureaucrat Shakuntala Gamlin as acting Chief Secretary by the LG had triggered a full-blown war between the ruling AAP and the Lt Governor with Kejriwal questioning the LG's authority and accusing him of trying to take over the administration.

Reacting to this, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Shazia Ilmi said, "MHA's notification is a clarification on Delhi's constitutional status. Arun Jaitley is right in saying that consensus must be built."

Centre on Saturday had said that full statehood rights cannot be given to Delhi government unless there is a general consensus in the country on the issue as it is the national capital.
