The BJP has threatened to go on the offensive if the PAC report on 2Gscam is rejected.

New Delhi: The BJP has threatened to go on the offensive if the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) report on the 2G scam is rejected, according to sources.

Politics over the PAC report, that is expected to be presented to the Lok Sabha Speaker on Saturday, has split the parliamentary body down the middle.

Sources have said that the BJP is also open to boycotting the PAC or withdrawing all 3 members from the body.

11 PAC members, belonging to the Congress, DMK, SP and BSP, are opposing the move by chairperson Murli Manohar Joshi to submit the report on Saturday as it has not been approved by all 21 members.

These members had also accused Joshi of presenting a "one-sided" report with the "malafide" intention of destabilising the government. They demanded that he step down as PAC chairperson. A couple of members had accused Joshi of "outsourcing" the report, a charge they later withdrew.

There were charges and counter-charges over leakage of the report among the PAC members from both sides.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal has slammed the PAC Chairman . He said, "Joshi's behaviour is complete violation of democracy. Reports are accepted through votes, he didn't even allow that. He has no locus standii in meeting the speaker because he has not followed norms."

What's your reaction?
