New Delhi: The war between Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) party president Nitin Gadkari and L K Advani is now out in the open. Hours after the veteran leader slammed Gadkari for poor leadership, reports suggested that the party president was upset with the frontal attack on him.
According to reports, a meeting has been called by Gadkari at his residence to discuss the impact of the bandh, where Advani and Sushma Swaraj have not been invited.
Earlier on Thursday, Advani posted a blog criticising Gadkari for poor leadership. He also hit out at the BJP president for his handling of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls and the crises in Karnataka and Jharkhand.
Instead, the veteran BJP leader showered praises on Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Sushma Swaraj and Rajya Sabha Leader of Opposition Arun Jaitley.
Advani also called for introspection within the party, claiming that the morale in the BJP was low.
The development comes just days after Advani skipped key sessions in the BJP National Executive meet, including Gadkari's re-election as party president.
The rift with the BJP also gave ammunition to the Congress to hit out at the party.
Congress leader Digvijaya Singh took a dig at Gadkari saying, "The fact remains that Mr Nitin Gadkari who has never won an election is calling the shots. He is a businessman not a politician."
