BJP trying to woo regional parties, says DMK
The DMK said the pressure mounted by the saffron party forced the resignation of BV Acharya as Karnataka Advocate General.

Chennai: The DMK on Thursday said the BJP was trying to woo regional parties and the pressure mounted by the saffron party forced the resignation of BV Acharya as Karnataka Advocate General.

Acharya, who was also Special Public Prosecutor in the disproportionate assets case against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, had said he resigned as Advocate General after Karnataka government pressurised him to quit as SPP in the case.

"They (BJP) are trying to woo regional parties and defeat Congress. In the process they are upto anything," DMK spokesman TKS Elangovan said when asked to comment on Acharya's claims.

Observing that he would not blame the state government specifically on this, Elangovan said Acharya had said there was pressure from BJP's central leadership to quit one post "which means it could be Advani and Gadkari".

"We are happy that SPP has exemplified his integrity," he said, adding it was for the public to see how the BJP was acting.
