New Delhi: Union Minister Jayant Sinha expressed confidence that BJP would form a stable government in Jharkhand and dismissed speculation that he was in the race for chief minister's post.
"I am very busy in Delhi," Sinha, who is a Lok Sabha member from Hazaribagh in Jharkhand, told reporters on queries whether he or his father former Union minister Yashwant Sinha were in the race for the chief minister's post.
He said the BJP Parliamentary Board would take a call on who would be the next chief minister.
"It is a very clear indication that people are very satisfied and very happy and trust the leadership of our prime minister. I am very sure that we are going to exceed 42 seats. We will be able to form a stable government which will give progress and development to Jharkhand," Sinha told reporters outside Parliament.
The Minister of State for Finance said that the state needs "a competent, able and honest leader" who can take it to the path of development. "We want people who can work and get things done. We don't believe in distinctions and divisions in society," he said.
"I am very busy in Delhi. I have a lot of work to do here. So let me work on that," Sinha said on whether he is a contender for the chief minister's post.
Based on trends, BJP looks set to form the next government in Jharkhand.
